Level Descriptions

This description applies to all courses and languages.

Before enrollment in a course, a short phone interview is conducted to determine the language level (if the client is unsure of their level).

Level A0 – Complete Beginner
Entry Level: No prior knowledge.

Course Goals:

• Learn basic expressions, greetings, and how to introduce yourself.

• Understand very simple questions and answers.

• Acquire basic vocabulary (family, housing, numbers, time).

• Gain confidence in listening and simple dialogues.

Conclusion: Oral test
Next Step: Progress to Level A1.

Level A1 – Beginner
Entry Level: A0 or equivalent basic knowledge

Course Goals:

• Understand simple sentences about everyday situations.

• Be able to introduce yourself, ask for directions, shopping, and food.

• Basic grammar: present tense, articles, basic prepositions.

• Conduct short conversations at a slow pace.

Next Step: Progress to Level A2

Level A2 – Elementary/Pre-Intermediate
Entry Level: A1

Course Goals:

• Understand common topics such as work, family, and travel.

• Use simple past tenses.

• Improve pronunciation and spontaneity in conversations.

• Express needs, opinions, and feelings in short sentences.

Conclusion: Oral test and internal THL Language School certificate (A2)
Next Step: Progress to Level B1

Level B2 – Upper-Intermediate
Entry Level: B1

Course Goals:

• Understand more complex texts and discussions.

• Actively participate in conversations on professional and abstract topics.

• Use precise vocabulary and appropriate phrases according to the situation.

• Improve reasoning skills and comprehension of native speakers.

Next Step: Progress to Level C1

Level B1 – Intermediate
Entry Level: A2

Course Goals:

• Understand the main points of conversations about work, school, and leisure.

• Speak coherently on familiar topics.

• Use expanded grammatical structures (past, future tense, conjunctions).

• Write simple texts and emails.

Level C1 – Advanced
Entry Level: B2

Course Goals:

• Understand complex texts and lectures with minimal difficulty.

• Express yourself fluently, spontaneously, and appropriately in style.

• Develop academic and professional vocabulary.

• Articulate your opinions and arguments precisely.
